What is exposed aggregate concrete & how is this finished achieved?

Once the concrete has been laid, the aggregate (stone) lies just below the surface. An agent is then sprayed over the entire surface off the concreted area; this stops the top 3-5mm of concrete from setting hard. When the concreted area is hard enough to walk on, we gently wash off the top surface layer of cement and fines with water to expose the decorative stone below. Varying the depth of the exposed stone is possible, by adjusting the time of when the agent is sprayed over the concrete and the quantity used.
